Trademark Classification
When applying for trademark registration, the classification of goods and services of the application must be listed. The general global classification system for goods and services is the "Nice International Classification of Goods and Services". which is based on the 45 categories of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The current effective version is the 11th edition of the 2019 text.
The classification of trademarks in the "Nice International Classification of Goods and Services" is global. Some countries further subdivide the items in each category into different groups or sub-categories, in order to help the applicants to understand the scope of protection of the different items or any similar items.
